Chinese statesman Sun Yatsen was a revolutionary leader and the first president of the Republic of China. He is widely regarded as the father of modern China, having led the overthrow of the Qing Dynasty in 1911 and the establishment of the Republic of China. He was a proponent of Chinese nationalism and democracy, and his political philosophy has been called the Three Principles of the People. Sun Yatsen's legacy continues to be celebrated in China and around the world.
