The Chinese Revolution was a period of political and social upheaval in China that began in 1911 and ended in 1949. It was led by Sun Yat-sen, also known as Sun Yixian, who was a Chinese revolutionary, politician, and political theorist. He was the first provisional president of the Republic of China and is considered the 'Father of the Nation'. His successor, Chiang Kai-shek, was a Chinese military and political leader who served as the leader of the Kuomintang (KMT) from 1928 until his death in 1975. Mao Zedong was a Chinese communist revolutionary who became the founding father of the People's Republic of China, which he ruled as the Chairman of the Communist Party of China from its establishment in 1949 until his death in 1976.
