Chess Soldiers, or PAWNS, are the most numerous pieces on a chessboard. They are the weakest pieces in the game, but they can be used strategically to protect other pieces and to control the center of the board. PAWNS can move one square at a time, but they can capture an opponent's piece by moving two squares forward on their first move. PAWNS can also be promoted to higher-ranking pieces if they reach the opposite side of the board.
