Cave formations are geological structures that form in caves due to the accumulation of minerals over time. Stalagmites are cone-shaped formations that grow upwards from the floor of a cave, and are formed by the dripping of mineral-rich water from the ceiling. Stalactites are similar formations, but grow downwards from the ceiling of a cave. Crystals are also found in caves, and are formed when minerals crystallize out of solution.
