Bil Keane was an American cartoonist best known for his work on the comic strip 'The Family Circus'. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1922 and began drawing cartoons at an early age. He served in the US Army during World War II and later attended the University of Missouri. He started his career as a cartoonist in the 1950s and went on to become one of the most popular cartoonists of all time. His work appeared in newspapers around the world and he won numerous awards for his work. Bil Keane passed away in 2011 at the age of 89.
