Carson City is the capital of Nevada, a state in the western United States. It is located in the western part of the state, near the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The city was founded in 1858 and named after explorer Christopher 'KIT' Carson. It is the only state capital in the United States with a population of over 50, 000 people.
