Loews was a bygone theater chain that operated in the United States from 1904 to 2006. It was founded by Marcus Loew and was originally known as 'Loew's Consolidated Enterprises'. The chain was known for its large, lavish movie theaters, many of which were located in major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, and Chicago. Loews was also the first theater chain to introduce multiplex cinemas, which allowed for more than one movie to be shown at the same time. The chain eventually merged with AMC Theaters in 2006, ending its long history as an independent theater chain.
