The British Prime Minister from 1945-51 was Clement Attlee. He was a Labour Party politician who served as Leader of the Labour Party from 1935 to 1955 and as Prime Minister from 1945 to 1951. He is best remembered for his role in the creation of the welfare state and the establishment of the National Health Service. He also oversaw the decolonization of India and the independence of India and Pakistan.
