British Honduras, now known as Belize, is a country located on the eastern coast of Central America. It was formerly a British colony and was known as British Honduras until 1973 when it gained its independence and changed its name to Belize. The country is bordered by Mexico to the north, Guatemala to the west and south, and the Caribbean Sea to the east. Belize is the only country in Central America with English as its official language.
