British composer Thomas Arne was an 18th century composer and musician who is best known for his patriotic song 'Rule, Britannia!'. He wrote a number of operas, including the popular 'ALFRED', as well as many other works for the stage. He also composed a number of church anthems and other sacred music. Arne was an important figure in the development of British music and his influence can still be heard today.
