The term 'Bragg' refers to the American Civil War General Braxton Bragg. He is most well known for his command of the Confederate Army of Tennessee at the Battle of CHATTANOOGA in 1863. His nickname was 'Old Bragg' and he was born in North Carolina in 1817. During the Civil War, he was responsible for the construction of several forts, including FORT Donelson and FORT Henry. He also led the Confederate forces at the Battle of Shiloh and the Battle of Stones River. After the war, he served as a railroad executive and later as a cotton planter in Louisiana.
