Bounty Landfall is a term that refers to the arrival of the HMS Bounty in Tahiti in 1788. The HMS Bounty was a British Royal Navy ship that was sent to Tahiti to collect breadfruit plants and transport them to the West Indies. The crew of the HMS Bounty mutinied against their captain, William Bligh, and set him and 18 loyalists adrift in a small boat. The mutineers then sailed to Tahiti, where they remained for several months before sailing to Pitcairn Island. The arrival of the HMS Bounty in Tahiti is known as Bounty Landfall.
