Black Gum is a type of tree native to North America. It is also known as TUPELO, which is derived from the Creek Indian word for 'swamp tree'. The tree produces a gum-like substance called CHICLE, which is used in the production of chewing gum. Guar is a type of bean that is used as a thickening agent in the production of Black Gum. All of these components are combined to create the popular chewing gum known as Black Gum.
