Ann Beattie is an American author and short story writer. She was born in Washington, D.C. in 1947 and graduated from American University in 1969. Her works have been published in The New Yorker, Esquire, and other magazines. She has written several novels, including Chilly Scenes of Winter, Picturing Will, and What Was Mine. She has also written several collections of short stories, including Distortions, Secrets and Surprises, and Follies. ANN Beattie has won numerous awards for her writing, including the PEN/Faulkner Award for Fiction and the Rea Award for the Short Story.
