Yentl is a 1983 romantic musical drama film directed, co-written, and co-produced by Barbra Streisand. It is based on the play of the same name by Leah Napolin and Isaac Bashevis Singer. The film follows Yentl, a Jewish girl who disguises herself as a boy in order to study the Talmud, and stars Streisand, Mandy Patinkin, and Amy Irving. Yentl was the first film ever to be released by TriStar Pictures, and was both a critical and commercial success.
