Bandleader Lewis was a famous American jazz musician, composer, and bandleader, born Theodore Lemuel Lewis in 1898. He was best known for leading the Ted Lewis Band, which was active from 1919 to 1940. He was also a popular singer and entertainer, and his signature song was 'Me and My Shadow'. He was a major influence on the swing era of jazz music, and he was inducted into the Big Band and Jazz Hall of Fame in 1985.
