REM is an American rock band from Athens, Georgia. Formed in 1980, the band consists of Michael Stipe (vocals), Peter Buck (guitar), Mike Mills (bass) and Bill Berry (drums). They are one of the most successful alternative rock bands of all time, having sold over 85 million records worldwide. Their music has been described as a blend of post-punk, folk, and country. They have released 15 studio albums, including their most recent, Collapse Into Now, in 2011.
