Ida B. Wells was an African-American civil rights icon who lived from 1862 to 1931. She was a journalist, newspaper editor, suffragist, and an early leader in the civil rights movement. Wells is best known for her investigative journalism on lynching in the United States, which she documented in her book Southern Horrors: Lynch Law in All Its Phases. She also co-founded the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1909.
