Thomas Paine was an English-American political activist, philosopher, political theorist and revolutionary. He is best known for his 1776 pamphlet 'Common Sense', which advocated for American independence from Great Britain. Paine wrote the pamphlet anonymously and it quickly became popular among colonists. It was one of the most influential documents in the American Revolution and helped to inspire the Declaration of Independence.
