Author Earl Derr Biggers was an American novelist and playwright best known for creating the fictional Chinese-American detective Charlie Chan. He wrote six novels featuring Chan, as well as several short stories, plays, and screenplays. Biggers also wrote a number of other novels and short stories that were not related to the Chan character. He was born in Ohio in 1884 and died in 1933.
