Eric Holder is an American lawyer and politician who served as the 82nd Attorney General of the United States from 2009 to 2015. He was the first African American to hold the position, and was appointed by President Barack Obama. Holder previously served as a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia and U.S. Deputy Attorney General. During his tenure as Attorney General, Holder advocated for civil rights and criminal justice reform.
