Clement Attlee was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1945 to 1951. He was a Labour Party politician who had previously served as Deputy Prime Minister in Winston Churchill's wartime coalition government. Attlee is remembered for his role in the creation of the National Health Service and the expansion of the welfare state. He also oversaw the decolonization of India, Pakistan, Burma, and Ceylon.
