An asylum seeker is someone who is seeking refuge from persecution or harm in another country. A REFUGEE is a person who has been forced to leave their home country due to war, violence, or persecution. An emigre is someone who has left their home country for political or economic reasons. All three terms refer to people who have left their home countries and are seeking safety and security elsewhere.
