The term 'Asian Ox' refers to four different species of bovine animals native to Asia. These include the Gaur (also known as the Indian Bison), the YAK, the ZEBU, and the ANOA. The Gaur is a large, wild ox found in India, Nepal, Bhutan, and parts of Southeast Asia. The YAK is a long-haired, domesticated ox found in the Himalayan region of South Asia. The ZEBU is a humped, domesticated ox found in India and parts of Southeast Asia. Finally, the ANOA is a small, wild ox found in Indonesia. All four of these species are considered to be Asian Oxen.
