Asia Minor is an ancient region located in modern-day Turkey. It was home to many civilizations, including the Galatians, Lydians, Hittites, Ionians, Aeolians, and Aeolis. Galatia was a Celtic kingdom that existed from the 3rd century BC to the 6th century AD. Lydia was an Iron Age kingdom of western Asia Minor, which flourished from the 12th century BC to 546 BC. The Hittites were an Anatolian people who established an empire in the Middle East during the 2nd millennium BC. Ionia was a region on the central part of the western coast of Asia Minor. Aeolia was a region on the northern coast of Asia Minor, while Aeolis was a region on the western coast of Asia Minor.
