The Arctic Residents are two distinct groups of people who live in the Arctic region. The SAMI, also known as the Laplanders, are an indigenous people of northern Europe who inhabit the Arctic Circle region of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. The Lapps, or Saami, are a group of people living in the northernmost parts of Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. They are traditionally nomadic reindeer herders and fishermen. Both groups have a long history of living in the Arctic and have adapted to the harsh climate and environment.
