The Arctic Ocean Obstacle is composed of two elements: a FLOE and a berg. A FLOE is a large sheet of floating ice that forms when pieces of sea ice break off from the shoreline and become frozen together. A berg is a large mass of ice that has broken off from a glacier or an iceberg and is floating in the ocean. Both of these elements can be dangerous to ships and other vessels navigating the Arctic Ocean.
