The Olivier Awards, also known as the Society of London Theatre Awards, are an annual British acting award presented by the Society of London Theatre in recognition of excellence in professional theatre in London. Named after the renowned English actor Laurence Olivier, the awards were first presented in 1976. They are considered to be the most prestigious and highest-profile theatrical awards in the United Kingdom.
