The Los Angeles Lakers are a professional basketball team based in Los Angeles, California. They are members of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and have won 16 NBA championships, the second-most in NBA history. The team was founded in 1947 and has been one of the most successful franchises in the league ever since. The Lakers play their home games at the Staples Center in downtown Los Angeles. The team is owned by the Buss family and is coached by Frank Vogel. The Lakers have had some of the greatest players in NBA history, including Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Shaquille O'Neal, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
