Andromeda, the mother of Cassiopeia, is a figure from Greek mythology. She was the daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiopeia of Ethiopia, and was chained to a rock as a sacrifice to a sea monster. Her story is told in the Greek epic poem Theogony by Hesiod. In some versions of the myth, she is rescued by the hero Perseus, who kills the sea monster and marries Andromeda.
