Andrea Del Sarto was an Italian painter and draftsman of the High Renaissance. He was born Andrea d'Agnolo di Francesco di Luca di Paolo del Migliore in Florence, Italy in 1486. His nickname, Del Sarto, means 'of the tailor' and was derived from his father's profession. He is known for his paintings of religious subjects, portraits, and frescoes. His contemporaries included Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo, and Raphael. Andrea Del Sarto was also a mentor to Giorgio Vasari and influenced the works of Doria, a painter of the late-Renaissance period, and Bocelli, a contemporary Italian singer.
