The Ancient Romans wore togae, a garment made of two pieces of cloth that was draped around the body and fastened at the shoulder. It was usually white in color and was worn by men as a sign of citizenship. Women were not allowed to wear the togae, but instead wore a stola, a long dress with sleeves. The togae was often decorated with stripes or embroidery and was often accompanied by a belt or sash.
