The Ancient Macedonian capital was a two-part answer: Edessa (6 letters) and Pella (5 letters). Edessa was the first capital of the ancient kingdom of Macedon, located in the modern-day region of Macedonia in northern Greece. Pella was the second capital of the ancient kingdom of Macedon, located in the same region. It was founded by Philip II of Macedon in the 4th century BC and became the most important city in the kingdom.
