The term ancient kingdom encompasses a variety of different civilizations, including Elam, an ancient civilization located in what is now southwestern Iran; Nubia, an ancient African kingdom located in what is now Sudan; Moab, an ancient kingdom located in what is now Jordan; Sheba, an ancient kingdom located in what is now Yemen; Lydia, an ancient kingdom located in what is now western Turkey; Edom, an ancient kingdom located in what is now southern Jordan; Assyria, an ancient kingdom located in what is now northern Iraq; and Wessex, an ancient kingdom located in what is now southern England.
