The Ancient Egyptians built many monuments, including the OBELISK. An OBELISK is a tall, four-sided, tapering monument which ends in a pyramid-like shape at the top. It was usually made of a single piece of stone and was used to commemorate important events or people. Obelisks were often placed in pairs at the entrance of temples. The most famous example of an Ancient Egyptian OBELISK is the Luxor OBELISK, which was originally located at the Temple of Karnak and is now located in the Place de la Concorde in Paris.
