Ancient Cambodia, also known as the Khmer Empire, was a powerful and influential kingdom that existed from the 9th to the 15th century. It was located in what is now modern-day Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. The Khmer people were the dominant ethnic group in the region and their culture and architecture had a major influence on the surrounding area. The most famous example of Khmer architecture is Angkor Wat, a temple complex built in the 12th century.
