The Ancient Balkan Country of Macedonia was an ancient kingdom located in the northern part of the Balkan Peninsula. It was established in the 8th century BC and was ruled by the Argead dynasty, which was founded by King Perdiccas I. Macedonia was a powerful state and was involved in numerous wars with its neighbors, including the Persian Empire, the Greek city-states, and the Roman Republic. It was eventually annexed by the Roman Empire in 146 BC.
