The Ancient Alexandria Lighthouse, also known as the PHAROS of Alexandria, was a famous lighthouse located in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. It was built by the Greek engineer Sostratus of Cnidus in the 3rd century BC and was one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. The lighthouse was located on the island of PHAROS, near the city of CAIRO, and was named after the Greek philosopher Arius. The Rosetta Stone, which was discovered in 1799, was found near the ruins of the lighthouse. The Ancient Alexandria Lighthouse was located on the banks of the Nile River in Egypt.
