The Anchorage Area is a region in Alaska that includes the city of Anchorage and its surrounding areas. It is known for its many ports and piers, such as the four-letter PIER, which is a structure built out into a body of water to provide access for ships. The Anchorage Area is also home to many other attractions, including the Alaska Zoo, the Alaska Native Heritage Center, and the Anchorage Museum.
