American writer Richard Yates is best known for his 1961 novel 'Revolutionary Road, ' which was adapted into a 2008 film starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Yates wrote several other novels, including 'A Special Providence' and 'Disturbing the Peace, ' as well as short stories and screenplays. He was a member of the 'Lost Generation' of writers who emerged after World War II. Yates died in 1992 at the age of 66.
