David Mamet is an American playwright, screenwriter, director, and novelist. He is best known for his plays, which include 'American Buffalo, ' 'Glengarry Glen Ross, ' and 'Speed-the-Plow.' He has won numerous awards, including a Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1984 for 'Glengarry Glen Ross' and a Tony Award for Best Play in 1984 for 'Glengarry Glen Ross.' He is also the recipient of two Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay for 'The Verdict' and 'Wag the Dog.'
