The term Algerian Governor refers to two positions in the government of Algeria. The first is the DEY, a title held by the rulers of the Ottoman Empire in Algeria from 1518 to 1830. The second is the Oran, a title held by the governors of the French colonial administration in Algeria from 1830 to 1962. Both positions were responsible for the administration of the country and the enforcement of laws.
