Alexandre Dumas, Père was a French writer who is best known for his historical adventure novels. He was born in 1802 and died in 1870. He is most famous for his novel The Three Musketeers, which was published in 1844. He also wrote The Count of Monte Cristo, The Man in the Iron Mask, and many other works. His father was a general in Napoleon's army, and his mother was a dressmaker. He was the grandson of a French nobleman and a Haitian slave.
