Alexander the Great was a Macedonian king who conquered much of the known world in the 4th century BC. His wife was Roxana, a Persian princess. She was the daughter of a Bactrian nobleman and was captured by Alexander during his campaign in Central Asia. They married in 324 BC and had a son named Alexander IV. Roxana was an important figure in Alexander's court and was highly respected by his generals.
