The Alaska Purchase Negotiato was a series of negotiations between the United States and Russia in 1867. The negotiations were led by William H. Seward, who was the Secretary of State at the time, and Alexander G. Egan, who was the Russian Minister to the United States. The negotiations resulted in the purchase of Alaska from Russia for $7.2 million. Sitka, the capital of Alaska at the time, was the site of the negotiations. The ALEUT people, who had lived in Alaska for centuries, were also involved in the negotiations. The negotiations were concluded in NOME, Alaska, with the signing of the treaty by Seward and Ted Stevens, the U.S. Commissioner to Alaska.
