Agamemnon was a legendary king of Mycenae in Greek mythology, and his wife was Clytemnestra. They had four children: Orestes, Iphigenia, Electra, and Atreus. Agamemnon is best known for his role in the Trojan War, which is described in Homer's epic poem, the ILIAD. He was killed by Clytemnestra upon his return from Troy, along with his mistress, Helen of Troy. His son Orestes later avenged his death by killing Clytemnestra and her lover, Aegisthus. Agamemnon's home city was Argos, and his kingdom was located in the region of Mycenae.
