African Fever is a viral hemorrhagic fever caused by the Lassa virus, which is endemic in West Africa. It is spread through contact with infected rodents and their excretions, as well as through human-to-human contact. Symptoms of African Fever include fever, headache, sore throat, muscle pain, chest pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. In severe cases, it can cause bleeding from the eyes, ears, and nose, as well as shock and organ failure. Treatment includes supportive care and antiviral medications.
