Adlai Stevenson was an American politician who served as the 23rd Vice President of the United States from 1893 to 1897 under President Grover Cleveland. He was also the Democratic Party's nominee for president in both 1952 and 1956. He was known for his wit and oratory skills, which earned him the nickname 'The Great Communicator'. He was a strong advocate for civil rights and was instrumental in the desegregation of the armed forces. He died in 1965 at the age of 79.
