Adelina Patti was an Italian-French opera singer who was one of the most renowned singers of the 19th century. She was born in Madrid, Spain, and began her career as a child prodigy in Italy. She went on to become a celebrated soprano, performing in many of the world's leading opera houses. Her repertoire included works by Verdi, Donizetti, Bellini, and Rossini. She was also known for her performances of French and German lieder. She died in 1919 at the age of 81.
