Theda Bara was an American silent film actress who was known as the 'VAMP' due to her dark and mysterious roles. She was born Theodosia Burr Goodman in 1885 and began her career in 1914. Her most famous role was as Cleopatra in the 1917 film of the same name. She also starred in the 1915 film A Fool There Was, which earned her the nickname 'Pola Negri'. Bara retired from acting in 1926 and died in 1955.
